What would you like to play?
I've been thinking for a while about putting up a sheet in the bandroom for people to post requests for specific pieces of music. However, it seems to me that this forum would be the perfect place for everyone to post suggestions. So have a think about music you'd like to play, and I'll see what I can do.
Bear in mind that we have a couple of "Themed" concerts coming up after St George's - we'll be doing a "Night at the Movies" concert in July, and a "Hallowe'en Spooktacular" on Oct 31st, so suggestions for these would be good.
Have a think about general pieces, too, that we might be able to include in the summer programme, or even something you'd like to 'have a go at' in a rehearsal, without it necessarily being part of a concert programme.
Over to you...

Hi jeff,
I'd like to have another go at Sugar Blues as and when it fits in. I now have it on CD so can copy what the guy does on the record !

Halloween Bash
Couple of thoughts for the Halloween Bash, how about playing any of the following, if we can get the music:
- the Funeral March - Chopin
- In the Hall of the Mountain King - Grieg
- Dance of the Goblins - Bazzini
- the Adams Family Theme
- The Twilight Zone Theme
- Halloween Theme
- Little shop of horrors Theme
- Jaws Theme
- Phantom of the Opera Theme
- Dry Bones
- Alfred Hichcock Theme
I also suggest that we all play in fancy dress -- to add to the atmosphere

Hey, welcome Dave!
Thanks for the suggestions, some good ones there - will see what I can do to get some of them in. I've got a few ideas, too, so with a bit of luck we should be able to get a decent programme together.
As for the fancy dress, that's a must!

Fancy asking that question.................. RIGHT THEN.......... Themes from The Movies.............. Amongst the things that I have arranged for Brass Band are :- The Great Escape, Dambusters, Dances With Wolves, Gladiator, Dance Of The Cuckoos (The Laurel & Hardy Theme), Superman, 1492 - Conquest Of Paradise, 633 Squadron, The Longest Day, Beverly Hills Cop (Axel F), Morricone's Melody (Gabriels Oboe), The Magnificent Seven, The Battle Of Britain March, The Luftwaffe March........ These are just a few........... Themes for halloween.... some that may be of help that I've done.... Selection from 'Phantom Of the Opera', The Addams Family, Danse Macabe, The Munsters, OoOoOoOo I could go on all night selling my wares but these are just a few arrangements of mine, perhaps Mr Shaw would like to discuss the matter with me, all these arrangements available exclusively to you.

And then some...! I've now got a stack of music from Keith, it'll probably take us till Christmas to play through it all!! Some good ones, and useful additions to the band's repertoire too - thanks Keith.
Just seen the latest poll that Terry's done as to whether folks prefer 'classical' or 'modern' stuff in concerts - don't forget if you have any suggestions, please post them here, and I'll see what I can do!

I like some of the suggestions here especially another go at "Sugar Blues".
Other than that I don't have anything to add except to suggest (unhelpfully, you may say!) two further Acorn themes:
A Night at the Opera and Advertising the Classics (music used in advertisements), both of which offer almost endless musical choice.

Concert theme
I was lying in the bath and listening to Alan Titchmarsh's program ( as you do) and thought that perhaps a theme might be music from around the British Isles or around the World.
Sure there are plenty of pieces that would make up a concert.
